Description
This project was commissioned by Maastricht University as part of a broader initiative to promote data protection awareness and digital transparency. The objective was to create a universal visual language that informs users about how websites process their personal data, helping them make more informed decisions about their digital privacy.
In collaboration with Diennea and an international team of researchers and legal experts, I was responsible for the research and design of a system of icons representing various data processing scenarios. The challenge was to translate a complex, often abstract subject into a clear, intuitive visual language accessible to all users , regardless of their technical or legal knowledge.
The project culminated in the UM-DPCSR (Data Protection as a Corporate Social Responsibility) framework, a unique initiative that repositions data transparency as a central part of corporate ethics and communication.
My role involved concept development, icon design exploration and final asset delivery. The icons are intended to support adoption across websites, policy pop-ups, and educational content.
